chilly november morning

we were running errands yesterday morning when i said to bill can we run home and get my camera? the pear tree immediately above had caught my eye and i just had to photograph it. so we did and then being the wonderful trooper that he is, bill drove around for a while stopping when i spied something that caught my eye. it was windy and cold and overcast but my heart was singing with joy! looks like another cold, windy, overcast day today. a good day for soup and a movie. i'm voting for you've got mail!

i love the pears and the row of leaves. we used to rake large piles of leaves into the street and then hide in them! i don't know how we weren't run over.

I love random picture taking days! Your photos are beautiful. I think the colors are all the more vibrant because of the overcast day.

Isn't it amazing all the beauty around us every day?

Julie, thanks for checking out my blog! These pear tree photos are fantastic! Might I borrow one for a reference? Your work is fantastic. I love the way you show people viewing it, to give an idea of scale. WOW I said I'd never go bigger than 20x24 again with collage, you have REALLY surpassed that. what ground do you work on ? wood?

thanks, everyone for your kind words. it's amazing what a difference a week makes. the pear tree has dropped all its leaves and all its fruit!

elizabeth, thanks and right back at you! i love your work and your attention to detail is so much better than mine! the biggest piece i've ever done is 3' x 4'. i vary the size of the torn pieces of paper to the overall size of the piece. the photos on museum settings are deceiving. i did that on a website which was fun. the actual pieces are much smaller than they appear in the museums. i started out on canvas but mostly like to work on solid apsen these days. the paper adheres so nicely to untreated wood. yes, please free to borrow a pear tree photo. i'm planing to collage a pear tree this winter. we'll have to share and compare when we're both done.

I'd love to share and compare! that would be great. I appreciate your letting me use the photo as reference. OK so now I don't feel bad that you made those pieces look much bigger than they truly are. I have a short attention span so I can't work on something forever, that is part of why I limit my size. AND I do love working on wood, if you go too big you have to brace it to prevent warping and then you get into carpentry... I am just not that efficient! LOL and then there is TRANSPORTING them. So, I don't go much bigger than 20x24 and I work on untreated sanded panel that I get from Home Depot. The guy at my local HD cuts them all down for me too. SWEET
