view of a window

"view of a window"

since one of my favorite things to photograph is old buildings, especially brick ones, i thought it might be fun to do a collage series featuring well, you know, old brick buildings. actually, this one started out with a window; i've been wanting to do a window for some time now. then it just naturally seemed to evolve into an old brick building. it was fun and i've already started the second in the series. i may wake up tomorrow morning and decide to add a few more details to this one. we shall see.

my dad was able to go home from the hospital today and will have physical therapy and a visiting nurse come into the house for treatment. hubby and i spent part of the day there ensuring that mom can take care of him and that everything was in place to make him as safe and comfortable as possible. it was a relief to get him home where i know he will rest and eat better. thanks for all your support and prayers!

while in hagerstown, hubby and i drove around looking for houses for sale. we're thinking of buying a small, older fixer-upper that we can stay in on the weekends and eventually live in when we retire. it was fun and we already have our eyes on a couple of cute ones that are listed at remarkably low prices. it would be nice to be able to go to hagerstown on the weekends to spend more time with my folks and also my kids and grandkids. wish us luck!

p.s. thanks to christine for letting me know that this piece would be a good addition to the creative tuesdays art contest hosted by toast. his blog is all about tea, so wonderfully designed and a delightful read. be sure to go over for a spot of tea and a sit down!

glad you're dad's back home. Wow, exciting about the fixer upper. Julie, you could enter one of those lovely window pane pictures into Mr. Toast's Creative Tuesdays this week, the topic is 'window pane'!

What good news about your dad. It's nice he's settled at home. I think, after nearly 45 years in nursing, that patients are usually more comfortable in their own spaces!

How nice to find a place nearer your families that you can work on a little at a time to fix just the way you want. It will have to be really special with all your talent.

Every window should have a box and a birdbath just outside. I really like this one. Good luck on your house search.

A very wonderful addition and am glad dear Christine told you about Creative Tuesdays. This is perfect, isn't it? Love it. So very you and so creative too. Normally, i do ask thet the theme's title name gets included in the piece or on the side somewhere but a lot of peeps don't do that anyway.

I am so excited to have your inspiration for the Creative Tuesday and hope you will do future themes. Each one is an entry into the quarterly giveaway prize drawing. If you do 6/6 (each one is bi-weekly) then you get an extra drawing as do you if you include my icon on one's side bar linking back to my site for the rules, etc, including adding "Creative Tuesday" to the post title or initial write up.

This is great! The colors are so warm and inviting. We have a lovely birdbath outside our living room window and I really like the look.
I am glad your Dad is home and can be more comfortable. I am sending prayers and postive energy his way. Good luck with the house hunting...sometimes looking is half the fun : )

I love windows too. Been a long time since I've done a window piece, but I had been contemplating it in the last few days. I think you may have inspired me. I love your piece as well so whimsical and beautiful. Wow what talent.

Julie, I like the new direction you are going with your collage work. I'm also glad to hear your dad is better although I didn't know he had been sick. I understand why you would like to get a home closer to everyone in the family. I wish I could live close to all of my kids. I enjoy seeing Elijah often since he is nearby.
