memorial moment
driving home from work one day this week i pulled into an old rambly, hilly cemetery. it was very spur of the moment. i generally only take photos on sunny days. this was a drizzly cool day, a perfect day to ramble in a graveyard.
the cemetery was deserted, quiet and quaint. small, old headstones were dwarfed by larger and newer ones. many wore cloaks of blackish green moss and tilted sideways from years of fighting the forces of gravity on a hilltop. the names and dates, once exact and distinct, have faded to almost secret messages.
and, so i walked and wondered and shot to my heart's content. the drizzle didn't stop me. the lack of sun and shadow did not deter. i found beauty there, a solace from the world if only for a moment.
have a wonderful weekend, all!

beauty and solace in a cemetary..hmm. I've never thought of it that way. Rainy days are supposedly good lighting for photos.
i love how you've creatively altered these photos...makes them so much more interesting (even though they're fantastic on their own, too!). i would love to show you some cemetery photos that i took in charleston....really cool stuff! and speaking of cool photos, LOVE your new banner (borrowed tulips, perhaps?! hee hee) :)
Oh, I love the effects you did on the photos.....nice.
love your pics, especially the greeny one.
I love walking in cemeteries too. Something serene and quiet about them--not morbid and depressing. Love the effects on the photos too and...Love your new heading!!

No one is saying anything about the two faces on the top gravestone. Freaky. Don't tell me you can't see them?
Happy Mother's Day!
photos look great!
i enjoy walking through cemeteries too. thinking about those who have lived and passed on makes me work a little harder at making life a little bit better
nice pics!
Utterly lovely. I really like these effects, quite ethereal and dreamy and atmospheric.
