brimming with creativity
hubby is away on a business trip so i practically lived in the art room over the weekend! my inspiration has been an invitation to display my art at a new art gallery that recently opened in tipp city -- studio 14. i'm very excited! i'm still putting some finishing touches on the above untitled piece -- more layers, details and textures to add . i'm loving the colors, particularly this rich van gogh deep gold 803 acrylic i bought at hobby lobby. it shimmers and is my new fave color!
another work in process without a name. i used the van gogh deep gold as part of the background again. i thought it was particularly rich with the red accents. if you click to enlarge you can see the tissue paper base for the flowers all dried and ready for me to add the paper "colors". it gives my collages a wondereful textured 3-d look and feel. this one will get more details and textures before it's done. any ideas for titles for these 2 vase pieces?
and, here's a sneak peek at the newest member of the simple living girls series. it seems someone is always asking if i have any new cat collages so i added a few to this one. what's a simple life in the country without cats??
here's a preview of things to look forward to on my blog over the next week or so:
• a sale in my etsy shop
• a giveaway!!
• photos of the photo collage canvasses i made -- now hanging in my bedroom AND a quick how-to so you can create some of your own
• grandma julie's zuchinni bread recipe -- i decided to play around with a recipe i found on the internet; i added a couple of new ingredients and the test loaves are in the oven right now. hope they taste as great as they smell!
• a little no-cost way i'm displaying my etsy print purchases in my art room!!!
did i mention i'm brimming with creativity?!!

Wow Julie! I'm loving the gold paint!! Beautiful...makes me smile. That gallery is very lucky to have your wonderful art hanging on it's walls. Congratulations!
Tracy
Good grief, Julie! Creativity overflowing for sure! That rocks! I love the new pieces, that gold color is super yummy! Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend!
Hi Julie, I am really liking all three of these paintings. The color combination's on them are wonderful. Love the golds, reds and the touches of blues.
Congratulations as well!!
It does look like your creative side of your brain doth runneth over! What a beautiful flow you have going too.....I envy your time for the art. Congrats on the show! The bread sounds great, my mom used to make it, it is good.
Mmm, I think I can smell that bread all the way over here at the manor. Looking forward to the recipe, Julie.
love the new paintings for the art show, how exciting for you. That gold is nice and flowers are my favourite subject. I can't think of a good name, but they sure look like they'll be a set, with the matching gold tones.
That gold color truly gorgeous. I spent some time hooked on a color called quinacridone gold, even though it had serious toxic warnings on it. Hope yours is more benign. I love the first collage best. Nice that you had a stretch of art time to yourself.
You certainly are brimming with creativity, Julie....LOVE those paintings and, I agree, that Van Gogh gold is a beautiful colour!
I can hardly wait to see the goodies you have in store for us this week ~
You have been busy!
I do love the cat one, being a cat lover it's the one that stands out for me. Love your work.
Love

Julie, I don't know what to name them either, but I'm liking them a lot. Love to see your work in progress. I always like to watch others create. Looking forward to your upcoming events.
Julie,
I was at Barnes & Noble this morning and purchased the magazine "Where Women Create". Have you heard of this magazine? They also have a website with the same name.
As I looked through this magazine I couldn't help but think to myself that Julie really needs to check this out if she hasn't already.
You should be featured in the magazine.
Gosh, I wish I had the creativity gene flowing through me like you do.
Love the colors on the last picture with the cats. Beautiful if I do say so myself..
omg.. my mil LOVES cats and I LOVE that newest cat piece...maybe... just maybe... Christmas? Hmmm... I'll have to check out the price - if and when it goes up for sale! SO CUTE!
I agree with you. The color of this new paint is rich and bright. I love the second picture just the way it is. You should make your own version of Van Gogh's sunflowers.
