ode to a leaf

such a short life you live
budding out in a fresh
coat of green in the spring
spreading your wings
to unfurl and grow

summer finds you
dancing in delight
on the gentle carress
of a june breeze
reveling in splendor

cool fall nights
awaken your coat
of many colors
your moment of glory
has arrived

you cling to the branch
determined to make
your moment in the spotlight
last as long as possible
you are worshipped

your last hurrah arrives
your hold is loosened
and you fly away
to join your fellows
in a crazy quilt of color

I am beginning to see that crazy quilt all around now. I love the imagery.

I love the markings on the second leaf. They almost look like the crosshatching an artist might make when sketching a leaf.

Such a great image.. I have never been a cool weather fan.. I'd live outside in the sun if I could get my family to agree.. haha But I am going to go outside today with a different view, and find me a special leaf.

A special poem for the season, with nice photos to accentuate it.
