mixed media collage
12" x 12" x 1.5"
gallery wrapped canvas
(c) 2009 julie king

we know our lives are abundant when

we feel the joy of laughter
and the release from tears

we are rejuvenated by a ray of sun
or patter of rain on our face

our hearts are buoyed by
nature's simple pleasures

we know we have many things
we could easily live without

hugs and a kind touch are generously
gifted without embarrassment

we choose to feel blessed
with what we have

It's a soothing, beautiful piece. And your words too. And sometimes tears themselves are a release, as I posted today.

Julie, this is just wonderful. You really should get a book published of your mixed media pieces with your little poems underneath or on the opposite pate. I can see it ... and I would buy it!

Your lovely picture and poem do remind me of the most important things in life and, when I begin to lament about some of my misfortunes, I do remember than, in some things, I am unbelievably wealthy.

Thank you, Julie, for reminding me!

So often we forget to count our blessings and not just the big ones but all of them, even the smallest ones.
I'm count you as a wonderful blessing and I thank you so much for posting a link to my blog giveaway. I wish I could say that you were the winner. You did come oh so close. I put all the entries in numerical order, put the numbers into a container and drew. The winner was number 2 "ElDesigns", you were number 1 just a breath away. Again I thank you for your thoughtfulness and your kindness.

This piece makes me smile. I love the way her hair is sucked into the word it is doing a 'dance of it's own.
