rejoice

layoffs have come and gone at my work and i'm still standing. ten of my co-workers were let go last wednesday morning. my heart is heavy with sadness for each of them. more changes are underway with new leadership, responsibilities and moving of offices. i feel so grateful to still be employed.

the above piece titled "rejoice" was done on a piece of wood i rescued from my artwork graveyard. it started out to be a horizontal beach scene and i never liked anything about it. so saturday night i painted over the multi-colored and layered background to create this new piece. i love it and couldn't be happier with it.

thanks for your continued readership of my blog although the posts have been random lately. i've made a conscious decision to live a full life instead of living to blog. many of you know what i mean, i'm sure.

((hugs)) to all of you on this beautiful monday!

That's a beautiful piece.

It's hard to keep hearing about what folks are suffering. I wish the laid off well. I'm so thankful to have a job.

Love the colors of this piece. Glad to hear that you could recycle an old piece. It's like a thorn in one's side to have old, unloved artwork sitting around.

Sorry to hear that things are so difficult at your workplace. It's good to know that you have such an upbeat, beautiful way of expressing yourself, even when things get rough.

I agree with you -- don't let blogging become a chore.

What a beautiful piece of work Julie - and I am glad you are putting yourself first here - it is so easy to go through the day wondering what to blog about and then never actually do anything - so you are quite right.
My thoughts go out to your laid off colleages, and I hope things are more settled for you. xx

What a beautiful and vibrant piece of art, Julie! I can understand why you would be so pleased with it. I'm so sorry to hear about the lay-offs at your workplace though. Christmas will be tough for so many families this year. :(

Re. blogging - I totally understand what you mean.

I'm glad you made the cut at your job. I feel the same way about mine. I don't like what I'm doing now...but it's a job. And that's a good thing. I also know what you mean about blogging. I feel like I've run out of meaningful things to say, so I'm kind of on again / off again. Love the new work!

I am happy you survived and are still working. This news brings back the trauma of my job loss in Feb and the $80 million in budget cuts to the San Fran Dept of Public Health. More layoffs are under way now to more city workers. It is so hard before the holidays.

Beautiful "rejoice." I rejoice with you.
